Loop Track
This new equipment module is both irresistible and informative. Why does the marble stay on the track at the top of the loop? Students discover that the marble must maintain a minimum speed to make it around the loop. The speed corresponds to a balance between gravity and centripetal forces.
A series of engaging investigations on circular motion builds both conceptual and quantitative understanding. The Loop Track has a diameter of 20 cm and uses the same steel and plastic marbles as the CPO Science Straight Track, Gravity Drop, and Rollercoaster.
